Programs

In addition to the Soup Kitchen, Thrift Shop, Food Pantry and emergency financial assistance, the following Programs are also offered:

•        Birth Certificates and IDs: assistance with obtaining these documents, which are needed
to apply for housing and other basic benefits

•        Financial Literacy: a series of classes on taking control of personal finances through
budgeting, ways to spend less, avoiding money traps and organizing finances

•        Grandparents’ Day:  usually meet monthly to hear a featured speaker on health issues or other pertinent topics (including Senior Driver Safety Classes); blood pressure checks, plus refreshments and fellowship

•        Household Necessities:  assistance with setting up an apartment for the first time or after an emergency (fire, flooding) with kitchen items, bedding etc.

•        Kids Dress for Success:  assistance with new school uniforms with focus on importance of school attendance

•        Prescriptions:

  •  assistance with accessing programs available for long-term prescription needs through pharmaceutical companies
  •  co-pay assistance through local mental health facility
  •  emergency financial assistance with prescriptions

•        Step into the Future: assistance for adults being re-trained for new jobs/careers with
registration, book fees or work clothing
